The BayPass card is issued to all eligible UC Berkeley students via a clipper card provided in tandem with issuance of the Cal 1 Card. Eligibility criteria are determined by the Office of the Registrar. Questions may be directed to Cal Student Central.

When do eligible students receive the BayPass
- Undergraduate students: Incoming eligible undergraduate students will receive the BayPass card at the same time they receive their Cal 1 Card, when moving into their residence hall or during GBO check-in (if not living in the residence halls).
- Graduate students: Incoming eligible graduate students will receive thei BayPass card in tandem with the Cal 1 Card, when attending their respective orientation / in-person welcome event. Otherwise, the BayPass card may be obtained along with the Cal 1 Card at the Cal 1 Card office on or after the first Monday in August. (Be advised that your student privileges may be limited until the formal start date of the term, as listed in the academic calendar.)
- Visiting summer sessions students: Incoming visiting summer sessions students will receive the BayPass card in tandem with the Cal 1 Card:
- on or after their respective session start date when moving into a residence hall
- during summer sessions card distribution check-in events (if not living in the residence halls)
- at the Cal 1 Card office as needed
- Concurrent enrollment UC Berkeley extension students: Incoming eligible extension students will receive the BayPass card at the same time they receive their Cal 1 Card, during the extension card distribution check-in period by appointment at the Extension Office.
Lost or Stolen BayPass Cards
Replacements for a lost or stolen BayPass card is issued at Parking and Transportation.

Taking custody of the BayPass card also constitutes acceptance of the corresponding Clipper Cardholder License Agreement and Privacy Policy.
