Cal 1 Card Staff

Jorge Martinez – Operations Manager

Jorge joined the Cal 1 Card program in August of 2009 after a 13 year career in the Biotech industry. He enjoys the dynamics of the Cal 1 Card office because the program is a touchstone for all students, employees and affiliates and provides services to the campus community at large. He gets particular satisfaction from supporting the student-staff members in the office as they fulfill their academic potential and develop professionally within the unit. Outside of work, Jorge loves listening to and playing music.

Chris Olson – Operations Specialist

Chris was born and raised in Berkeley and joined the Cal 1 Card team during the fall 2014 semester after having worked for five years in the hills above campus at the Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory.  When he’s not at the Cal 1 Card Office, he enjoys running with his dog, exploring the rural back roads of West Sonoma County, as well as camping and fly-fishing in the Sierra Mountains east of Chico.

Simone Burns – Operations Specialist

Simone joined the Cal 1 Card team in July 2018.  She was born and raised in Hayward, CA. She attended California State University, Sacramento where she earned her BA in Sociology.  Simone’s appreciation for educational enrichment environments & background in operational support attracted her to the Operations Specialist position with Cal 1 Card.  She is a self-proclaimed “foodie” and an animal lover.  In her spare time she loves to dance and go hiking.

Pamela Haskins – Operations Specialist

Tragically, Pamela passed away on Thursday March 22nd, 2018 after a long and courageous fight against cancer.  Pamela was an integral part of the Cal 1 Card team for over ten years and her presence is sorely missed. Pamela loved the Berkeley community and always appreciated how it enriched her daily experiences.  Her favorite part of working for the Cal 1 Card Office was helping student staff members grow into young professionals.   Pamela’s greatest accomplishment was raising her three beautiful children.
